My 1st year of college flew by. I packed my things, moved out of my dorm and enjoyed the summer at my parent's. One of the girls and I had decided to move in together into a "real" apartment after living in the dorms for our first year. Right before summer break, we signed a lease for this cute little place close to campus. It was teeny tiny and outdated, but we didn't mind. In all honesty we were naive about the whole apartment thing. So after summer was over, it was time for my second year of college so my parents and I drove up to Chico right before school started to move in into my new place. After we set up my new bed, my parents left. THIS IS WHERE MY NIGHTMARE BEGINS! I decide to take a shower, and everything seemed pretty normal up to that point. I then step out of the shower and began to dry my body with a towel. It was quite steamy in the bathroom because of the warm water that I used, but I began to faintly notice faint black dots all over my body and at first I thought my towel must be leaving some fuzz behind. Not until the faint black dots started to move I looked closer and realized they were baby spider all over me. I screamed and frantically tried to get them off my body. Then, something dangling in front of me catches my eye, I look up in terror and see baby spiders hanging from the ceiling. They were crawling all over the ceiling, walls and me! I realized I just walked into a spider birth, these spiders just hatched!! While screaming on top of my lungs, I tried killing all of them from the walls with a spray bottle and anything in close reach. It was horrible. After that incident I just thought I need to go to bed, it had been such a long day for me. I peel back my sheets and see about 4 baby spiders waiting for me. I thought to myself can it get any worse? Well... it did. What's worse than baby spiders? ADULT SPIDERS! The next day I told my roommate about the incident and we both thought it must be an isolated event and that was going to be the end of that. Well right before bed my roommate and I were in our teeny tiny living room and we both noticed in the area where the wall meets the floor there was a huge gap. This wall was also shared with my bedroom wall. In this gap we noticed lots of different black spiders. I thought to my self "oh hell no." She and I grabbed a lysol spray bottle and did our own fumigation. The spiders hid before we could kill them all. As you can only imagine, sleeping was impossible I felt like they were crawling on me, I had to sleep with the lights on and completely covered. I'm not even kidding, I wore long socks, long pants and a long sleeve shirt in the MIDDLE OF AUGUST! I told the leasing office about our spider issue when I began to wake up with itchy bites. These people were so rude. They sent someone in to inspect our apartment and said "when we walked in there we didn't see anything," As if they were going to get greeted by them in the middle of the day. I grew so frustrated. They eventually sprayed and a couple days later the spiders would show up again. This went on for about half the school year. Then they made me catch one in order to prove that there were actual spiders! The leasing office did not believe me and I think it was because my roommate had no issues with her room. The worst thing is in our storage closet had black widow spiders living in it. We actually found one crawling on our front door. At this point I was afraid for my life. There was no control on what kind of spider was coming into our apartment and into my bedroom. Every morning I would get greeted by a different spider on my wall. I probably met every spider in Chico. This went on the whole school year. A complete nightmare!
